I’m a freelance photographer and digital artist based in Sydney Australia. Born in 1975, the son of Ukrainian refugees that came to Australia from Germany at the end of World War II.
My artistic expression is influenced by the need to understand transgenerational trauma. Trauma that is transferred from one generation to the next via complex post-traumatic stress disorder mechanisms.
My photography career began after he was given the opportunity to photograph a group of talented emerging Western Sydney performance artists and was also introduced to Sydney’s contemporary art scene over a number of years.
I first graduated from Western Sydney University where I studied a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Computing and Information Systems, and then from the Australian Centre for Photography where I studied Camera Craft and Lighting. My photography has been exhibited in art galleries around Sydney and I was a finalist with a self-portrait in the Marrickville Contemporary Art Prize in 2008.
I do photography not because I have to, but because I love photography.
